I Went Retail Shopping…Again

That’s right, as if the sticker shock from my last Retail shopping wasn’t enough, my son and I heading to the Las Vegas Strip and went shopping at Fashion Show Mall.

This was part two of my birthday shopping, because ONCE is never enough. 😉

For today’s outing I wanted to be super comfortable and of course, stylish so I busted out this Diane Gilman SILK blend long cardigan that I scored for only $3.94.

Side note : I also kept ‘busting out’ of this blouse, until my husband reminded me about my stash of Hollywood Fashion tape.

What would I do without him?!

I paired it with another recent purchase, these $18.74 Time and Tru Sculpted Jeggings from Walmart!

I’m going out on a limb here and totally recommending these! No, I haven’t washed them yet, so keep that in mind.

How did the shopping go? Well, in one bougie store, I was telling the employee how I found one of their expensive jackets at Goodwill selling for only $9.99.

Needless to say, he said I had inspired him to go check out the thrift for himself.

Actually, that’s what I hope to accomplish with my blog…to show all of you that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look good.

Do I do that?

I hope so.

So, what did I buy?

Well, my dad had sent me money for my birthday, so I bought a pair of ‘Gucci’ inspired tennis shoes at Aldo’s at 30% off.

Then, I FINALLY found a pair of camo jeans.

On sale at the Gap for 40% off, they STILL cost me $50!!

Side note: they BARELY fit me, but I refuse to go up yet another size.

Another side note: Because my HUSBAND wanted it, we recently bought an elliptical type machine, that I have gotten on ONCE for three minutes, where my heart rate immediately went up to 178 and the machine kept beeping at me because apparently I was dying.

It’s staring at me right now, as I lay on the couch shoving another peanut M&M into my mouth, from the 250 piece bag of Halloween candy that we bought for ALL the trick or treaters that never come because we live in a senior community.

  1. Great casual outfit, and what a cool necklace! I could not reply to your last post for some reason, as I loved that gorgeous necklace you were wearing. It looks to be Murano, green glass beads from the 1950’s/60’s, most likely made in Japan. A stunning piece, that pulled your outfit together just beautifully🤗

    1. Thank you SO much for that info. My husband checked on EBay and found a similar necklace selling for $90!! I guess I did good with my $1 price. 😉
Today’s necklace is from my MIL. It’s one of my favorites of hers.

  2. You so funny!! Ha-Ha
All your retail buys were worth every dollar spent. The black sculpted leggings from Walmart are special. They look so comfortable!

    Dee xoxo

  3. I love how you tell the store you found their items at the thrift store !! Only you!!
I actually love Aldo stores….we’ve found some great deals there !
And you’re definitely going to get your $50 money worth out of those camo jeans. Remember my post about when your pants are tight? Just use those trucks for now

    1. I have no shame in my thrift game! 🤣 I agree, I’ve found some great deals at Aldo too. Yes, I will have to use your tricks to be more comfortable in those camo jeans. Super glad I got them though!

  4. Darlene, you should do stand up, you are so funny! I shopped retail and got some animal print jeans for £8….. and thrifted a Uniqlo merino wool sweater and cardigan for about £4.50 each 😁

    1. Thanks Lorraine! I did crack myself up writing this post. 🤣Maybe I should add ‘stand up comedy’ to my now, non-existent bucket list. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Sounds like you scored some pretty cute items! I have one Uniqlo item that I thrifted…a basic white tee.

  5. I’ll type my response as soon as I can stop laughing, Darlene! You’re so funny! I, too, have exercise equipment at home…a little of everything. I never use it. It’s propping up my paddleboard and I think there’s a jacket draped over the handle of something. We don’t have trick-or-treaters either. We live on a rural street with houses spaced fairly far apart and we’ve had like 6 trick-or-treaters in the past 15 years. We still buy a big old bag of candy. Then, when it’s not eaten, I take it into work. I don’t eat candy much at home, but boy can I put it away at work :/ I love this outfit on you! That cardigan is an amazing deal and I love that blouse! I had to Google the tape – must get some for myself. And that’s great to hear about the jeggings. I see them every time I head to the pet aisles at WalMart and wonder if it’s worth trying them on. Let us know how the first washing goes! I love that you’re turning the salespeople in the snooty stores, too. They’re definitely the ones who need to check out the thrift shops because I’m sure they’re pushed to wear store brands and high-end clothing.

    1. Thanks Ruth! I’m glad to know we’re not the only ones with exercise equipment collecting dust. 😉
Both of us are retired, so it looks like I’m stuck eating all that candy.
I’ve used that Hollywood Fashion Tape for years. It works pretty good. Definitely worth trying. I believe you can just get it at Target, maybe Walmart too. Also, at Harmon’s Face Value if you have one near you.
The salesman at the bougie store was shocked when I told him about finding their clothing at the thrift store. 😱🤣
