At age 57 I am about to embark on a new career!
What is it, you ask?
Well, let’s look back at a post I wrote on July 13, 2018 called Model Material.
In that post I mentioned that I had sent my photos off to a talent/modeling agency here in Las Vegas, but alas, I never heard back…
YOU GUYS, I GOT SIGNED BY THE AGENCY!!!!!
Like, I’m a for real, legit, PAID model…at age 57!
Here’s how it all unfolded.
After never hearing back, I was SHOOK when I got an email in mid- September, asking me to come in for an interview.
The email stated that I should wear tight fitting solid color clothes.
Umm…that’s my thrifting ‘uniform’.
It also stated that I should bring high-heels to walk in and a swimsuit.
Yeah…that’s a no and a H$LL no!
I wanted to give them the ‘real’ me, (thick glasses and all), so here is exactly what they got.
And guess what? They LOVED the ‘real’ me! They were SO happy that I showed up with my glasses on and minimal makeup. They said that is what their clients like to see.
(They want to see what they have to work with).
The jacket I chose to wear is a Fabletics find from the thrift that I scored for $4.99.
I love the little details on it.
They were also really impressed with what I had already accomplished on my own, without an agent. I had to bring a Comp card with me. Of course, I had no clue what that was, so I asked Google.
Here is what my husband and I came up with.
*I blocked out my personal information. I SHOULD have blocked out my measurements, but hey, I like to keep it real.
I went in there just being my usual enthusiastic self, and I believe that is what really sold them on me.
Here are some of the things they said to/about me.
“We love your personality!!” “You are very photogenic and have a great smile.” “You are relatable and approachable.” “You are perfect for our Spa client.” “You would be great for a speaking role in our casino commercials.”
After that, I was photographed from all angles. Yikes! I also had to speak on camera. #EasyPeasy.
On the way back to the lobby, the casting agent who had photographed me turned and said…”Nailed it!”
And that is how I became a legit model!
So what’s next for me in this new unchartered territory?
Well, I was submitted for a job for some print work and I got booked!!
Unfortunately, the client cancelled/postponed the shoot for a future date.
Such is the life of a model…
I guess?!! Hahaha
